This was an amazing experience!! Highly recommend Basil and Ms Boom was just a spot on instructor! This will be a highlight of my travels for sure…the class size is ideal and the friendly, clean enviroment was oh so welcoming. Out of all the Thai cooking course’s out there in Chiang Mai, this by far is the best!

    Thank you!

My cooking experience with Boom as a very kind and patient teacher is one of my dearest memories of my trip to Thailand.
During a week I did the intensive course and back home in Holland I prepared a Thai dinner for my closest friends. Boom treated me like a V.I.P.- guest and that felt great!
It’s such a pleasure to have her at your side: preparing the ingredients, no need to wash the dishes, like at home, have a nice chat with her…
She explains you everything, paying also attention to the ‘styling’. I really recommend you to go and experience it yourself.

What a treat! The cooking class we did with Basil was the highlight of our trip. We were traveling with our 17 year old niece, and we all had a blast. The trip to the local market was fascinating, and the instructors, Boom and Ning, were helpful and generous with their talent and knowledge. We each made 6 different dishes. Each of us had different taste preferences, and the instructors helped us find substitutes to balance the flavors based on our preferences (no fish sauce, no problem). I would recommend this class to anyone wanting an authentic and memorable Thai culinary experience that you can take home with you and share with your family and friends. We can’t wait to try the recipes out for our supper club at home (Denver, Colorado, USA). Thanks for an amazing experience.

Every comment above is completely true. Boom offers a wonderful class with great instruction. Cooking is a passion of mine, and I thought her class was great. It is very hands on where you prepare the dishes yourself with her guidance. For pictures and an idea of what the class is like, you can reference my blog post: http://smilefeist.wordpress.com/2011/05/03/basil-cooking-class/.

I recommend her class as it is smaller groups, clean, and she teaches you various ways to prepare things in terms if you want the dishes to be healthier, more flavorful, etc.

I had a fantastic morning at Basil – and struck lucky as it was the quiet season so I was the only student and had 1-to-1 tuition! Boom is a great teacher, and everything ran so smoothly – all the ingredients ready laid out on plates, all utensils to hand, and even someone else to do the washing up! I enjoyed all 6 of the dishes that I made and will definitely be trying them out again now I’m back at home (I currently live in Brunei so am lucky enough to be able to get many of the fresh ingredients here).

    Thanks Boom!

My wife and I had a day session with Boom in June 2012. The program is suited to all levels of cooking skills. The ingredients are mostly laid out for you but you still have to prepare them which gets you more involved in the cooking. I cannot recommend the cooking experience high enough. The trip to the markets gives you a basis of what to use and what substitute in your own country can be used. The cooking area was large. clean and cool to work in. Boom’s instructions were clear and at a level anyone could understand. Boom also encouraged questions and made time to make sure you understand her answers. But at the end of the day the proof is in the eating. The food was fantastic. There was no special technique or ingredients, just all fresh ingredients and a few good tips.

It is easy to see Boom is passionate about food. This made our day with Boom the highlight of our visit to Chiang Mai.

    Thanks Boom.
